The Ginger’s List of Hair Care Must-Haves

National Love Your Red Hair Day falls on November 5th, which was the inspiration for this article. Still, we have to love redheads all year ’round. Ever since I was small I thought that red hair was one of the most beautiful things I’d ever seen. I was heartbroken when Lindsay Lohan dyed hers. If you’re blessed to be a natural redhead, don’t cover it, embrace it. It’s rare and gorgeous. That’s why I’ve researched some of the best products for redheads in hair care.

Hair Care

If you’re lucky enough to have natural red hair, do what you can to preserve it. Some hair care tips for redheads include:

  • Consider Henna. Natural hair products work best and will give your hair the ultimate spa treatment. Henna smooths and protects your hair while giving it a lasting shine. Not to mention it enhances your already beautiful color. If you’re new to henna, click here for some how-tos on getting started.
  • Use a coconut oil hair mask to prevent split ends. Apply a generous layer of coconut oil to your hair, let it sit for 30 minutes, then shampoo as usual.
  • Stick to sulfate-free shampoos. Sulfates are what make shampoos big and lathery. The lather does nothing for you except make you feel better that you’re washing something. Sulfate-free shampoos don’t lather, but they protect your hair from getting frizzy and dulling your beautiful color. Not to mention they irritate sensitive skin.
  • Put your hair in one big braid before bed. This protective style helps prevent split ends and helps lock in moisture.

Here’s is a list of top rated products found on Amazon.com that will help keep your red hair looking its very best.
